Businessman ups empowerment drive
Marondera (Chaminuka-New Ziana) –Local businessman and renowned educationist Dr Cleopas Kundiona has taken development initiatives and livelihoods sustaining projects a gear up by bankrolling several ventures in all the twelve wards in the town.
The projects are aimed at empowering both the youths and adults and are being carried out at cell, ward and district levels.
In a recent interview, Dr Kundiona who is the losing Zanu PF candidate in the 2018 Parliamentary elections for Marondera Central, said apart from empowering the masses, the projects that he initiated would also go a long way in attracting people to join the revolutionary party.
The projects that are being rolled out include command poultry, command bakery as well as cross border trading and has seen more than 1 000 households benefiting.
“As the shadow MP for this constituency, I will not rest on my laurels and watch people struggle to make ends meet. I initiated poultry, bakery and cross border trading for people in all wards in the constituency and through this, many households and individuals have been able to sustain themselves. I want to be interacting with the masses all the time and I do not wait for election time only.
“Through these projects, I hope we will be able to lure voters for the Presidential, Parliamentary and council elections come 2023. I would like to play my part to ensure that our party romps to a landslide victory in those elections,” Dr Kundiona who is also the founder and executive president of UMAA Group of Colleges said.
He said a series of meetings in all wards had been lined up as the revolutionary party moved to consolidate its base in the constituency and at provincial and national levels.
“Zanu PF is the only party with a traceable history and is the party that played a leading role in the fight against the settler Ian Smith regime and brought the independence that we are enjoying as a nation today. As such, this independence must be guarded jealously and as a party cadre, I have a duty to make sure that more people join the party,” he said.
