Free Wi-Fi for Chiredzi residents
Chiredzi (New Ziana) – A local businessman in Chiredzi’s Ward 3 has installed free wifi for residents in the area as a thank you for their business loyalty.
James Charumbira decided to install three Wi-Fi antennas in the heart of the Chiredzi Urban Ward 3 as part of his community social responsibility.
“I made this donation as a way of thanking and ploughing back into the community in which I stay and do my business and also as my contribution towards the realization of the Vision 2030 as stipulated by the President,” he said.
“Data is expensive for everyone during this Covid 19 era, children are not going to school and certain business entities are closed but my idea was mainly for school kids to do their school work through e-learning. I’m a development partner and a lot has been said about me campaigning for future elections but nevertheless I’m just thanking the community in return also for supporting my businesses.”
The Wi-Fi antennas are located in different areas and each covers a 200m radius.
“I will be officially launching this project initiative sometime next week,” said Charumbira, adding that this was just a pilot project as he planned to install the antennas in all of Chiredzi’s eight wards.
Chiredzi Town has of late been hit by lack of recreational facilities as the once thriving local library is now a white elephant.
