Harare (New Ziana) — In a ground-breaking move, Zimbabwe Accountants International (ZAI) and the Indigenous Advisory Practioners Association of Zimbabwe (IAPAZ) have struck a strategic partnership to link Zimbabwean professionals in the diaspora to investment opportunities back home and help boost the economy.

The collaboration was announced following a recent virtual meeting and is set to transform how professionals engage with investment prospects in Zimbabwe.

IAPAZ Secretary General, Last Matema confirmed the development and emphasized the vital need for information sharing, particularly for newly qualified professionals contemplating migration.

“We have observed a concerning trend where young professionals leave Zimbabwe with unrealistic expectations. Many find themselves juggling multiple jobs to make ends meet, leading to burnout and, in some cases, depression. This partnership aims to provide realistic insights into life abroad, enabling informed decisions before they migrate,” said Matema.

He said the ZAI-IAPAZ collaboration will concentrate on four main areas, with investment information sharing being paramount.

He added that ZAI members looking to invest in Zimbabwe will gain valuable insights into the local investment landscape, while IAPAZ members seeking opportunities abroad will tap into ZAI’s vast international network.

“We will also jointly develop initiatives aimed at increasing diaspora remittances to Zimbabwe.

“This partnership is a game-changer for both our members and the country. IAPAZ has a deep understanding of Zimbabwe’s investment ecosystem, while ZAI boasts strategic international connections, primarily in Europe. By leveraging each other’s strengths, we aim to build a solid support system for professionals—whether they choose to stay, return, or explore opportunities in the diaspora,” he said.

IAPAZ will facilitate connections with local networks, easing the reintegration process into Zimbabwe’s professional and social environments.

This support, Matema said, is essential for ensuring a smooth transition back for returning professionals.

“This partnership marks a significant step in addressing the challenges faced by Zimbabwean professionals both at home and abroad.

“By creating pathways for meaningful investments and fostering productive collaborations, ZAI and IAPAZ aim to benefit not only their members but also contribute positively to Zimbabwe’s economy and the welfare of its citizens in the diaspora,” he said.
