Football clubs typically utilise the mid-season and off-season transfer windows to reinforce their squads, securing the signatures of key players who can significantly enhance their competitiveness and propel them towards success in the domestic league.
Goalkeepers are the least transferred in the football market as they tend to be too expensive and long term contracts hinder their movement from one football team to another .
Football die hard fans have witnessed what could as well be referred as the busiest goalkeeper in the transfer window Bhekimpilo Ncube who has swapped cities finding new homes.
He is a complete modern goalkeeper who possess special attributes that include trailblazing energy, ball control, exceptional saves, commanding communication and utilising the whole 18 yard box.
Because of the fast evolving sport coupled with the digital era most goalkeepers have lost the first choice position mainly due to lack of special attributes and weight management.
Bhekimpilo Ncube, the talented goalkeeper for Northern Region champions Scotland FC, is being hailed as one of the few custodians who embody the modern era’s sweeper keeper archetype. Analysts praise his exceptional ability to act as the “eleventh player” on the field, seamlessly integrating into his team’s attacking builds and capitalizing on strategic opportunities. Ncube’s unique skillset has earned him recognition as a standout goalkeeper in the region.
Khabe, the charismatic goalkeeper, began his top-flight journey with Chicken Inn FC, where he made a name for himself from 2013 to 2015. He then moved to Bulawayo Chiefs, donning their colours from 2016 to 2017.
Bhekimpilo “Khabe” Ncube’s career trajectory saw him join Yadah FC in 2018, where he was instrumental in helping the “Miracle Boys” evade relegation. He parted ways with the Harare-based side at the end of the 2019 season.
The following year, Khabe made the move to Bulawayo, inking a deal with Bulawayo City FC amidst the COVID-19 pandemic. He spent two seasons with the municipality-backed side, from 2020 to 2022.
Returning to the capital city to join giants Caps United in 2023, which had assembled three of the best goalkeepers in one house namely Ashley Reyners, Tonderai Matewunga and Bhekimpilo Ncube. Competition was a blessing as it helped improve certain weaknesses.
In a thrilling move earlier in 2024, Khabe joined Hwange FC, making a memorable debut against the formidable Ngezi Platinum. His spectacular performance, replete with breath-taking saves, not only earned him the coveted Man of the Match award but also instantly won over the hearts of the home supporters. This stellar debut cemented Khabe’s position as the team’s first-choice goalkeeper.
Khabe’s tenure at Hwange FC was short-lived, as he soon caught the attention of ambitious Scotland FC. The free-spending club, eager to bolster their squad, came knocking with an irresistible offer. With their sights set on joining the top-tier league, Scotland FC were desperate to secure Khabe’s services, and he ultimately made the switch to join their ranks.
Khabe joined forces with an impressive lineup at Scotland FC, featuring renowned players such as Denver Mukamba, the 2012 soccer star of the year, King Nadolo, Allan Gahadzikwa, Cleopas Dube and Ronald Pfumbidzai.
Together, they formed a formidable team that ultimately conquered the Northern Region League. Scotland FC’s championship triumph sealed their promotion to the top-tier league, marking a triumphant milestone for the team.
