Bindura October 31, 2019 (Nehanda Gurdian-New Ziana) -A 38 year old Bindura man allegedly kidnapped a Zimbabwe Republic Police officer with the traffic section at a road block at the 85b kilometre peg along the Mukumbura–Bindura highway sometime in September this year.

According to the prosecution, Godfrey Malunga was stopped at the road block on his way to Bindura around 10 am on September 13 this year.

Constable Joseph Paribendipo approached him intent on ascertaining whether he was a certified driver and was welcomed inside the car.

Before Paribendipo was seated, Malunga sped off and the other police officers gave chase in a patrol car.

Along the way, Paribendipo attempted to disturb the accused but he was beaten, with the evidence produced in court through a medical examination report.

Malunga denied the charges and was remanded in custody to November 4 for trial commencement.

Magistrate Pamela Chimhini presided over the matter while Edward Katsvairo represented the State.
