Harare (New Ziana) – The Special Midlands High Court Circuit in Gokwe has jailed two young men to 20 years imprisonment each for the murder of their sister’s boyfriend.
A misunderstanding arose after the deceased had asked the two men to call their sister for him. Bhepe and Mbenge then attacked the deceased with an axe and a homemade knife. They stabbed him with a knife on the head before striking him with the axe. They also stabbed him once on the left side of the chest whilst holding him before fleeing the scene
leaving the deceased unconscious. The deceased later died as a result of the injuries and a police report was made leading to the duo’s arrest the following day.
Separately, the NPAZ said Nobert Mhlanga (40) of Tagwirei Village, Chief Mazvihwa, Zvishavane, was jailed to an effective 18 years for the murder of his wife for allegedly misusing money that he had given her to buy relish.
Mhlanga appeared before the Special High Court circuit in Gweru charged with the 14 April 2022 murder of his wife at the couple’s homestead.
The wife had bought a satchel using the money Mhlanga had given her for relish. A misunderstanding over this development escalated and Mhlanga assaulted the deceased with open hands several times all over the body before dragging her outside where he struck her three times on the head using a hoe.
He also struck her with bricks all over the body and she died on the spot. The matter was reported to the police leading to Mhlanga’s arrest.
