Harare, (New Ziana) – In a disturbing case of sexual abuse, a 37-year-old man from Athlone Park in Harare has been sentenced to 20 years in prison for raping his own 18-year-old daughter.

The incident occurred on the 2nd of March 2024 when the father picked up his daughter from her aunt’s house in Epworth. As they were nearing Athlone Park, the father began fondling the young woman’s breasts and demanded that she have sexual intercourse with him.

When the daughter refused, citing their biological relationship, the father violently assaulted her. He tripped the victim to the ground, tore off her clothes, and proceeded to rape her.

The traumatized daughter immediately reported the heinous crime to the authorities, leading to the father’s arrest. Despite pleading not guilty, he was ultimately found guilty by the Harare Magistrates’ Court and sentenced to 20 years behind bars.
