Harare (New Ziana) – Four people lost their lives, and two others hospitalized at the weekend after consuming a concoction made from an aloe vera plant, police have said.
The incident occurred on Sunday at Gonorenda homestead in Marange, Mutare.
Police said relatives of three of the deceased identified them as Joseph
Myambo (45), Brighton Gwenzi Chibhosho (27), and Kudakwashe Marambire
(44). The fourth victim remains unidentified.

The two survivors are currently receiving treatment at Mutambara Mission Hospital.
It is unclear what the concoction was meant to treat.
Separately, police said they had arrested a 18-year-old Abel Ncube in connection with the murder of his father, 49-year-old Dumezweni Ncube, at their homestead in Niniva village, Mbembesi.
The incident occurred on October 19, 2024, following a domestic dispute, where Abel allegedly stabbed his father once on the left side of the chest with a spear, resulting in profuse bleeding and eventual death.
The victim’s body was taken to United Bulawayo Group of Hospitals for
