    GMB announces 2024/25 summer season pre-planting prices

    Harare, (New Ziana) – The Grain Marketing Board (GMB) on Friday released the 2024/25 summer season pre-planting prices for various crops, with sun flower being the highest paying crop. In a statement, GMB chief executive officer Dr Edson Bhadharai said sunflower had a price of US$712.20 per metric ton in the top spot, followed by soyabeans at US$619.31 per metric ton, while maize and traditional grains have been pegged at US$335.14 per metric ton.

    “GMB wishes to advise esteemed farmers and stakeholders of the 2024/25 pre-planting prices for maize, traditional grains soya beans and sunflower,” he said. Farmers from across the country are anticipating a good harvest following the good rains being experienced.

    The Meteorological Services Department (MSD) has predicted that the country is likely going to have average to above average rainfall from January until the end of the rain season in March giving hopes to farmers of a successful farming season.
