Harare(New Ziana) – At least 90 health personnel based in Harare and Chitungwiza completed training in Covid-19 case management on Saturday, as the number of patients increased on the same day by one to 25 including two recoveries and three deaths.

In its daily update, the Ministry of Health and Child Care said a total of 133 tests were conducted on Saturday and one person in Harare tested positive.

“This case involves a client with a history of travel from Europe,” it said without providing further information.

“In line with the Ministry’s plan to build the capacity of health care workers on Covid-19 epidemic preparedness and response, a total of 90 clinicians from Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals, Chitungwiza Central Hospital, Sally Mugabe Central Hospital and the private sector in Harare completed training in Covid-19 case management at the public health emergency operations centre.

“This training was conducted with technical and financial support from the World Health Organisation. The trained clinicians will cascade the training at their institutions and among fellow private practitioners. Case management training in the remaining nine provinces is scheduled this week.”

The Ministry added: “Additionally, training of health care workers in enhanced surveillance across all provinces is in progress in line with our intensified surveillance strategy for Covid-19.”
