Harare, (New Ziana) – The Minister of Home Affairs and Cultural Heritage, Kazembe Kazembe on Wednesday warned that the government will take decisive action against unauthorized gaming operations across the country.

In a statement, Kazembe said his Ministry has noted with grave concern that some unscrupulous operators have constructed or equipped casinos without the enabling documents from the Lotteries and Gaming Board.

According to the Lotteries and Gaming Act Chapter 10:26, such conduct is strictly prohibited under Section 31.

“It has come to our attention that certain individuals and entities are brazenly establishing gaming shops, casinos, and other betting facilities without the required approvals from the Lotteries and Gaming Board of Zimbabwe.

“Setting up betting shops or casinos without the proper documentation and permissions, as well as conducting unsanctioned gaming operations, is completely illegal and poses a serious threat to public safety,” he said.

He said the government will not tolerate any unlawful gaming activities within the country and those found engaging in such practices will face the full force of the law.

He urged the public to report any suspected illegal gaming operations to the Lotteries and Gaming Board or their nearest police station.

“We acknowledge the tremendous efforts being made by the Lotteries and Gaming Board in regulating this industry. Working closely with key enforcement agencies, the Board will take the most robust actions to shut down any unlicensed casinos, gaming shops, or betting facilities, and prosecute those responsible,” Kasembe said.

He added that the government was committed to maintaining order, upholding the law, and protecting the national interest.

“We will not allow the wellbeing of our citizens to be jeopardized by unscrupulous individuals exploiting them through unauthorized gaming activities. This crackdown is essential to safeguard the people of Zimbabwe,” he said.
