MARONDERA- Two months from now, Marondera-based sungura music outfit, The Little Swallows, intends to release a new single titled Zvegore before launching an album in August.
Lead guitarist and vocalist Tinei Sithole, also known as The Swallow, told Chaminuka that the single track sungura song has catchy melodies and meaningful lyrics.
“We are planning to release a single track titled Zvegore in March.
A full album containing six songs will then come as a follow-up in August.
Considering the effort that we put in the project, the album will take listeners on a journey of self-discovery, love and resilience.
If everything goes according to plan, we will feature Simon Mutambi on one of the songs.
“In that album, we will feature a mix of upbeat and slow tracks, each with its own unique story and message. It will be an album for everyone – thus the young and the old,” Sithole said.
Apart from Mutambi who has already made a name for himself in the music industry, The Little Swallows will feature other artists with whom the group has been experimenting with on different rhythms and instruments to create unique sounds that complement the uniqueness of their sungura sounds.
Sithole said their forthcoming album’s release derived inspiration from life experiences and observations that take place around the world on a day to day basis.
“We are creating music that inspires and uplift others, encouraging everyone to rise above their challenges and pursue their dreams. As an ensemble, we draw inspiration from a wide range of sources, mainly African rhythms, contemporary pop and classic soul. The result is an album that will be both deeply personal and universally relatable,” he said.
The affable musician fell in love with a guitar and started strumming the wires in the early 90’s when he was at school.

The Little Swallows band was formed in 2009 and released the musical outfit’s first album titled Haashandike Naye in 2010 under Metro Studios recording label
