Sungura fans in Hwange are in for a treat as Alick Macheso is set to take centre stage in the coal mining town at a show dubbed “Hwange music festival” featuring some of the best local live performers.
The renowned Sungura artists popularly known as Baba Sharo is expected to enchant the audiences at the highly anticipated show with his unique bass guitar playing style and strong vocals at the Hwange Colliery stadium this November.
Some local artists will also have a chance to share the stage with the Sungura guru which include Clement Mugwazo and DT Bio Mudimba while the turntables will be under the expert care of wheel spinner DJ Sets.
DT Bio Mudimba was excited saying it was something he had always longed for and revealed his desire to learn from the legend.
“I feel so excited to perform alongside the Sungura guru Alick Macheso since it’s a great opportunity for us young and rising musicians. I am willing to learn from the legend, though I will observe much on stage management,” said DT Mudimba.
He also encouraged local fans to come in numbers and provide maximum support during the music festival.
“I would like to invite all our fans to come in their numbers at the Hwange music festival show and enjoy the historic performances by the union of the selected bands. We promise to keep you on toes all night as you enjoy the memorable night.”
The music festival promises to be an unforgettable experience as fans are bracing up for an electrifying performance from the Sungura legend and other artists assigned for the massive task.
The “Mandikumbuke” hitmaker has since inspired a generation of Zimbabwean musicians through his contributions to the music industry that have also cemented his status as a cultural icon to inspire some future generations.
Through his captivating performances, blending Sungura and Afro jazz Aleck Macheso has a career spanning three decades in the music industry having released multiple albums including his latest “Kupa Kuturika”.
