MARONDERA– The Marondera Rural District Council (MRDC) recently gave notice to residents and ratepayers informing them that it has adopted a Master Plan which has been on public exhibition from October 22 up to December 21.

Announcing the development, MRDC chief executive officer Tichafara Gundo said this was in terms of sub-section (2) of Section 15 of the Regional, Town and Country Planning (Master and Local Plans) regulations, 1977.

“All the documents relevant to the draft Master Plan are on public exhibition at MRDC head office along North Road and the Mahusekwa sub-office in Chihota and can be accessed electronically during working days. Any interested person or organization may make objections to, or representations regarding the Master Plan to the provincial planning officer on or before January 04, 2025.

“Objections and representations should state the matters to which they relate and the grounds on which they are made. The objections and representations must, at the same time, be copied and sent to the chief executive officer,” Gundo said.

The Master Plan is in compliance with the Call To Action: No Compromise to Service delivery blueprint which wants local authorities to deliver services that are in sync with Zimbabwe’s Vision 2030 of making the country an empowered upper-middle income economy six years from now.

It will formulate the local authority’s policies and its general proposals for the planning area in respect of the coordinated and harmonious development of re-development and other land uses.

On completion and approval, the Master Plan will also be a broad policy plan that guides development within the area under the jurisdiction of Marondera town and will provide guidelines for present and future developments within the defined areas.

The area covered by the Marondera Rural District Master Plan borders Murehwa district to the north, Goromonzi district to the north and north-west, Seke district to the west, part Chikomba district to the south-west, Hwedza district to the south and Makoni district in Manicaland province to the east bounded by Macheke River.

Marondera Municipality is surrounded by Marondera Rural District Council.
