MARONDERA– Last week police in Mashonaland East joined the rest of the world in commemorating the World Breast Cancer Day at an event that saw female police officers from various stations in the province attending.
As part of marking the day, an awareness campaign was held at the provincial police headquarters.
Officer commanding police in Mashonaland East, Commissioner Joylin Mazambani officiated at the event, whose aim was to educate police officers on the importance of breast cancer prevention and detection.
Medical staff took turns to provide valuable insights on combating breast cancer in both men and women.
Speaking at the event, Commissioner Mazambani said: “The month of October is aligned to the campaign on the fight against breast cancer. As the nation and world align to fight crime, we saw it fit to stand and fight against ailments such as breast cancer. This awareness campaign demonstrates the police command’s commitment to the well-being of our members in the force and the community at large.
“By joining the global effort to raise awareness about breast cancer, the Mashonaland East Police Command is taking a proactive step towards promoting a healthier community.”
