Masvingo, (Masvingo Star-New Ziana) –A 23 year old woman from Chatikobo high density suburb is on the run after scalding her husband with hot cooking oil for failing to bring home a chicken for relish on New Year’s eve.

Ronica Shava is now a fugitive from the law after disappearing from the scene.

The husband, Shelton Mati is recovering at Masvingo General Hospital where he was transferred after initially being rushed to Morgenster Mission Hospital.

Shava, who was baking some buns waiting for her husband to bring a chicken for the family relish, was beside herself with anger when a heavily drunk Mati arrived home without the bird.

A quarrel ensued resulting in a fight during which Shava picked up the pot with boiling cooking oil from the fire and threw the liquid at Mati.

Mati howled in pain leading neighbours to rush to investigate with one of them, Clemio Dzawanda rushing him to Morgenster Mission Hospital.

The case was then reported to Muchakata Police Station and a manhunt launched for Shava.

Due to Shelton’s condition, Morgenster Mission transferred him to Masvingo General Hospital.

Masvingo police spokesperson, Chief Inspector Charity Mazula confirmed the incident and urged members of the public to solve their differences amicably and to seek third parties to mediate rather than taking the law into their own hands, often resulting in serious injuries and loss of lives.
