A beauty pageant, the Miss Simba Bhora, meant to honour the fairy tale success of the Shamva-based soccer team, Simba Bhora boys for a season well played is underway.

Preparations for the pageant are at an advanced stage, and in an interview with Nehanda Guardian, the marketing manager and the organiser of the event, Caesar Kufandiko, said as a token of appreciation to the Simba Bhora boys and the community that supports the team, they came about with the idea of a Miss Simba Bhora beauty pageant.

“We saw it wise to celebrate the boys by giving back to the community and people of Zimbabwe through organising the Miss Simba Bhora beauty pageant nekuti chinhu chakatambwa zvakanaka chose, izvo zvakatipa simba rekuda kuronga mutambo wakadai,” he said.

Kufandiko said the pageant which is slotted for December 6, 2024 at Wadzanai Stadium, would see 15 contestants from all corners of Zimbabwe battling it out for the crown.

Artists such as Jah Prayzah, Crystal, Bling 4 and other local upcoming artists will also be there to entertain the people.

The beauty pageant is most likely to coincide with a victory win of the premiership league by the Simba Bhora boys as they are leading the log with 60 points with the nearest contenders at 51points at the time of going to print.

Chichi Majevhani from Harare, who is the current reigning queen, will hand over the crown to the winner on the day.

Former Miss Shamva, who is the vice president of Simba Bhora, Tonderai Ndoro, will be the guest of honour at the event.

This year’s pageant will run under the theme “Celebrating the achievement of our team through modelling”.

The team has been undefeated and winning most if not all of their home matches at Wadzanayi Stadium.

With the Premier Soccer League season nearing its end, the Simba boys appear determined to prove that they are not a nine day wonder and are bent on bringing the trophy to Mashonaland Central Province.
