Harare, (New Ziana) –Chief Justice Luke Malaba on Monday swore in 12 new High Court Judges and the Deputy Judge President of the High Court as the government moves to ensure efficient justice delivery to citizens.
The swearing-in ceremony, which took place at the Constitutional Court, marks a significant expansion of the country’s judicial capacity, as the newly appointed judges will help address the growing caseload and ensure the timely administration of justice.
First to take the oath of office was Justice Garainesu Mawadze, who has been elevated to the position of Deputy Judge President of the High Court, where he will deputize Justice Mary Zimba-Dube.
Other judges who were sworn into office include Mpokiseng Dube,Sijabuliso Siziba, Joel Mambara, Regis
Dembure, Naison Chivayo, Vivian Ndlovu, Philipa Phillips, Faith Mushure, Gibson Mandzaza, Ngoni Nduna and Maxwell Kaitano, who is the new Administrative Court Judge.
Speaking on the sidelines of the event, Justice, Legal and Parliamentary Affairs Minister Ziyambi Ziyambi said the appointments underscore the government’s commitment to strengthening the judiciary and providing robust leadership within the court system.
“We are very happy that His Excellency (President Emmerson Mnangagwa) has approved these appointments. It will help a lot in accessing justice. Cases were taking too long to conclude but with the coming in of these judges it means they will be expedited and justice will be done efficiently,” he said.
The newly sworn-in judges bring a wealth of legal experience and expertise to the High Court.
They were selected through a rigorous vetting process that evaluated their qualifications, integrity, and commitment to upholding theprinciples of the Constitution.
