Harare, (New Ziana) – The Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) on Thursday released the names of the victims of the recent Passion Link bus accident in Rusape.

In a statement, national police spokesman, Commissioner Paul Nyathi named the victims as Charity Nyamapfeni, Annie Miti, Gladys Sarutani Gumiro, Viola Nyambabvu, Winnie Chiremba, Agness Miti, Magaret Mapangabure and Bradley Mukwane.

The eight were part of Anglican Church congregants from Manicaland returning home after church services at the Bernard Mizeki Shrine in Marondera, and were burnt beyond recognition after the bus caught fire. Several others escaped with injuries.

The bus was allegedly unroadworthy, and the government immediately cancelled the company’s operating license in response to the crash. Nyathi said DNA analysis for the eight bodies were carried out at the National University of Science and Technology.

“Relatives of the deceased are urged to get in touch with ZRP Rusape Traffic for information. The Zimbabwe Republic Police implores drivers and bus owners to be safety conscious to safeguard human lives on the road,” he said.
