Harare, (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Saturday extended sincere and heartfelt congratulations to President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa on his re-election.

Ramaphosa was re-elected on Friday after winning majority votes in parliament on Friday. He polled 283 votes against Julius Malema, leader of the Economic Freedom Fighters who got 44 votes.

“Your re-election to this high office is ample testimony to the great confidence and trust that the people of South Africa repose in your astute leadership,” President Mnangagwa stated in his message.

As President Ramaphosa embarks on his new mandate, President Mnangagwa reaffirmed his strong commitment to working closely with him to further strengthen and deepen the strong bonds of friendship and solidarity that exist between the two countries and their peoples.

“We are glued together by shared history, culture and family ties,” said President Mnangagwa, underscoring his commitment to continue working closely with President Ramaphosa at the regional and multilateral levels, in furtherance of the regional integration agenda, as well as in seeking enduring solutions to global challenges.

President Mnangagwa also wished President Ramaphosa personal good health and success in the discharge of his onerous responsibilities, assuring him of Zimbabwe’s support and cooperation in that regard.

“You can always count on my support and co-operation in that regard,” he said.
