Harare, (New Ziana) –President Emmerson Mnangagwa on Wednesday joined other world leaders in congratulating United States of America President-Elect Donald Trump for winning the 2024 Presidential election, beating Democratic candidate Vice President Kamala Harris.
Trump won the election to make a remarkable comeback four years after he was voted out of the White House and replaced by former President Joe Biden, who bowed out of the 2024 election to make way for VP Harris.
“Congratulations to President elect @realdonaldtrump on your election victory. The world needs more leaders who speak for the people,” President Mnangagwa wrote on his X handle on Wednesday. “Zimbabwe stands ready to work with you and the American people to build a better, more prosperous and more peaceful world.” Other world leaders have also sent their congratulatory messages to Trump after he won the US Presidential election in a stunning comeback four years after he left the White House.
These include Ukranian President Volodymyr Zelenskiy, who expressed appreciation for President Trump’s commitment to the ‘peace through strength’ approach in global affairs, which he hopes will bring just peace in Ukraine closer.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyau said: “Congratulations on history’s greatest comeback! Your historic return to the White House offers a new beginning for America and a powerful recommitment to the great alliance between Israel and America. This is a huge victory! In true friendship.”
Congratulatory messages also came in from the Prime Minister of India, Narendra Modi, Emmanuel Macron of France, Japan’s Shigeru Ishiba, Canada’s Justin Trudeau, Tayyip Erdogan of Turkey, German Chancellor Olaf Scholz, Saudi Arabia’s King Salman and Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and the British Premier, Keir Starmer.
There were also messages of congratulations from the NATO secretary-general, Mark Rutte, Lai Ching-te of Taiwan, Giorgia Meloni of Italy, Pedro Sanchez of Spain, Egyptian President, Abdel FattahAl Sisi and President Cyril Ramaphosa of South Africa.
