    Province gear for national youth games

    GWERU -The province is geared to host the revised National Youth and Paralympic Games, the local organising committee’s chief executive James Chivivi has said.

    This year’s edition will run from July 27 to August 10 in Gweru.

    Chivivi said they are geared to host memorable games that will eclipse past editions.

    “We are in the process of visiting the corporate world so that they assist us with what we require.

    “Every year there are complaints after the games are finished but this year it will be different,” he said.

    Chivivi said they want the games to identify talent which will lead in high performance in sport.

    “We are looking at identifying talent which will at the end compete at the Olympics,” he said.

    After the postponement of last year’s games due to a devastating typhoid outbreak, Chivivi said this year’s games will run from July 27 to August 10.

    “We will have block 1 of the virtual provinces which comprise of tertiary institutions and uniformed forces from July 27 to August 3.

    “The second block will run from August 3 to 10 which will comprise of the provinces,” he said.

    Chivivi said President Emmerson Mnangagwa is the games patron and every Zimbabwean should be pulling in the same direction.

    Midlands Provincial Administrator Admore Maronge said they will notify where the games will be played so that the whole province is involved.
