Russian President Vladimir Putin and his Vietnamese counterpart To Lam held Russian-Vietnamese talks with the participation of official delegations. This is reported by Vietnam News Agency, a partner of TV BRICS.

The share of settlements in national currencies between Russia and Vietnam increases.

At the end of the first quarter of 2024, their volume was about 60 per cent compared to more than 40 per cent last year, the president added.

The two sides also discussed key areas of co-operation, including trade and investment interaction.

The volume of trade turnover is increasing, and the free trade agreement with the Eurasian Economic Union brings concrete benefits to both sides, Vladimir Putin stressed.

Putin added that the energy sector is one of the strategic areas of co-operation. Common projects in oil and gas production bring real results, and there are also prospects for the development of renewable energy.

The Vietnamese President stressed that the talks were held in a trusting atmosphere and very fruitful.

“We have adopted a joint statement on deepening the comprehensive strategic partnership between our two countries,” said President Lam.

This is the fifth visit to Vietnam by Putin on his position as a head of state. It coincides with the 30th anniversary of the Treaty on Principles of Friendly Relations between Vietnam and Russia.
