Harare(New Ziana) –In a grim start to the festive season, at least 10 people died while 11 others were injured on Thursday in an accident that occurred at the intersection of Harare Drive and Borrowdale Road along Domboshava Road.

National police spokesperson Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi confirmed the incident: “Yes we received a report of a truck that was involved in an accident with a Mazda pickup along Domboshava Road. Ten people died on the spot and eleven were injured.’’

Asst Comm Nyathi urged motorists to drive safely during the festive holiday and not to drink and drive.

He also urged drivers to follow instructions from police who would be controlling traffic at intersections were robots would not be working.

“The traffic light was not working when this happened. Therefore we encourage motorists to follow instructions from policemen who usually control traffic when robots are not working,” he said.
