Masvingo(Masvingo Star-New Ziana) -A Masvingo lady of the night is suffering the ignominy of performing community service and rendering her services for free after she was ordered to repay $100 that she took from a client’s phone wallet after spending time together.

Masvingo magistrate, Candice Kasere convicted Tenda Rwodzi of Runyararo suburb after pleaded guilty to stealing a Samsung A5 phone and the money from the man’s phone wallet when they spent the night at her place.

Rwodzi was sentenced to 12 months imprisonment with three months suspended for five years and another three months on condition she pays $100 restitution.

The remaining six months were set aside on condition she performs 210 hours community service at the local Runyararo Clinic.

While admitting to the theft, Rwodzi denied searching the man and said he left his phone behind and she decided to withdraw the $100 which was the amount they had agreed on for her services.

In sentencing Rwodzi, Kasere said although she did not deserve to go to jail for $100, it was wrong for her to steal from someone who believed and trusted her.

The court also noted that Rwodzi was a single mother with two children to look after.

Innocent Mbambo appeared for the State.
