Harare, (New Ziana) – The ruling ZANU (PF) will Tuesday and Wednesday convene the ordinary sessions of its Politburo and Central Committee respectively in the capital as it makes the first definitive steps towards its 21st annual National People’s Conference to be held in Bulawayo from Thursday to Sunday.
In a brief statement, the Zanu PF national spokesperson, Christopher Mutsvangwa said the party secretary-general, Obert Mpofu had called for the ordinary session of the Politburo on Tuesday at the party headquarters at 1 PM.
He said the following day the ruling party would convene an ordinary session of the Central Committee at the same venue at 10 AM. These meetings precede the party’s annual People’s Conference to be held at the Zimbabwe International Trade Fair (ZITF) grounds in the country’s second largest city.
About 4 000 delegates including some diplomats are expected to attend the indaba, to be officially opened on October Friday by the party’s President and First Secretary, President Emmerson Mnangagwa with the closing ceremony scheduled for Sunday.
To be held under the theme ‘Industrialise and Mordenise Towards the Attainment of Vision 2030’, thematic discussions are expected to be dominated by the state of the economy and that of the party.
The conference provides a platform for the revolutionary party to discuss several issues including people’s welfare, economic empowerment and policy implementation for national development.
