Harare, (New Ziana) – Zimbabwe on Monday registered 12 recoveries from Covid-19, the biggest number so far in a single day since the first case was recorded in late March, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said.

This brought the number of people who have healed to date to 46.

Depending on the severity of the infection, patients are either being
asked to recover at home or are being admitted at specially designated
    Covid-19 health institutions.

But as recoveries go up, the number of new infections is also
continuing on a growth trajectory with five new cases recorded on
Monday to take the national tally of confirmed cases to 287.

“To date, the total number of confirmed cases is 287, recovered 46,
active cases 237 and four deaths since the onset of the outbreak on
March 20, 2020,” the Health ministry said.

The five new cases were returnees from South Africa who are already in
    isolation.

The neighbouring country has to date become the biggest source of
    imported Covid-19 cases into Zimbabwe.
