Four family members kill son in-law
Zhombe (Gweru Times-New Ziana) -A mother and her three children are up for murder after they allegedly fatally assaulted their son-in law following a domestic dispute.
Acting Midlands provincial police spokesperson sergeant Xolani Dube confirmed the death of Reason Maseko (31) of Mudzingwa village under chief Mujere in the Zhombe district of the Midlands who was allegedly beaten to death by his in-laws.
Maseko had gone to his in-laws’ homestead in a bid to resolve a domestic dispute with his wife Rejoice Sibanda (30).
“When he got there he met his brother in-law Talent Sibanda (27) who was coming out of the hut and alerted his mother Judith Sibanda (46), his brother Yolanda Sibanda (25) and Reasons wife about the visitor (Maseko),” said Sgt Dube.
It is alleged that a misunderstanding arose and the four suspects armed themselves with sticks and started beating Maseko indiscriminately all over his body.
“Reason was rescued by his father who had followed him to his in-laws to be part of the discussion of solving the dispute.”
A report was made at Zhombe Police Station.
“Police attended the scene and Reason Maseko was taken to Kwekwe General Hospital where he died on admission,” said Sgt Dube
“His body was taken to Kwekwe Hospital Mortuary awaiting post-mortem and the four suspects are in police custody assisting the police with investigation,” he added.
Sgt. Dube urged society to solve disputes amicably.
“Using violence constitutes an offence and also leads to unnecessary loss of lives,” he said.
