Gweru (The Times-New Ziana) – Three Gweru teenagers have been arrested for allegedly breaking into three different houses, stealing property valued at $16 000.
The suspects, Nigel Kaitono (19), Tanaka Mawara (18) and Wiseman Svosve (18) allegedly unlawfully broke and entered into three different houses in Mtausi Park, Dalesford Gweru and stole property valued at $16 000 which included electrical gadgets, beverages, toiletries and food items on December 1.
Investigations into the break-ins led to the arrest of the three suspects and recovery of property valued at $10 000 from them.
The trio is expected to appear in court facing unlawful entry and theft charges.
Acting police provincial community relations and liaison officer Assistant Inspector Ethel Mukwende appealed to members of the public not to buy stolen property.
“Once again the police are appealing to members of the public to desist from buying stolen property and they (should) seek clearance from the police before buying any property from other members of the public.”
Mukwende said the police was for the swift report made which led to the arrest of the trio.
“The police would like to appreciate the complainants who quickly reported their case to the police and assisted with our investigations in this case. It is clear testimony that there is always a good relationship between the police and the community,” she said.
