Harare (New Ziana)- Zimbabwe recorded 14 Covid-19 deaths in the week between July 26-31, taking the overall tally of fatalities to 67, the Ministry of Health and Child Care has said.
In a daily update, the Health Ministry said the deaths were recorded in Harare, Mashonaland West, Manicaland and Bulawayo provinces.
“Today we report the results of 14 deaths which occurred from 26-31 July 2020 in the community and on admission to casualty departments at Parirenyatwa Group of Hospitals and other hospitals after investigations and post mortems were done. These include 11 males and 3 females from Harare, Mashonaland West, Manicaland and Bulawayo provinces and had respiratory symptoms compatible with Covid-19 and PCR tests came out positive for Covid-19,” it said.
Zimbabwe also recorded 77 Covid-19 infections, the majority of the cases being locally transmitted.
“Seventy-seven (77) cases tested positive for Covid-19 today. These include 67 local cases and 10 returnees, South Africa (7) and Botswana (3) who are isolated.
“Since the onset of the Covid-19 outbreak on 20 March 2020, the total number of confirmed cases is 3 1 69, recovered 1 004, active cases 2 098 and 67 deaths,” said the Health Ministry.
Cumulatively, Zimbabwe has conducted 131 035 Covid-19 tests.
