Harare, (New Ziana) – Police said on Saturday they were investigating a video case in which a police officer is seen
clapping school children sparking outrage on social media.
While police spokesperson, Assistant Commissioner Paul Nyathi said facts were still being verified, in the video, a female police officer is seen assaulting two students.
“We understand the incident happened at Kwekwe High School where the police officers had gone to conduct an awareness campaign on 3rd December 2020,” the police spokesperson said.
“The Zimbabwe Republic Police does not condone such conduct during awareness campaigns and investigations are underway to verify the facts with the Kwekwe District Command and Midlands Province.”
Applauding the public for bringing the matter to light, Nyathi said, once confirmed, “appropriate action will be taken against the member.”
