Harare(New Ziana)- Acting President Constantino Chiwenga on Friday consoled the Moyo family following the death
of the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade, Lieutenant General (retired) Sibusiso Moyo.

Moyo succumbed to Covid-19 complications and has since been declared a National Hero.

In a statement, the Acting President said the late Moyo (59), was a distinguished politician and civil servant.

“Having had the opportunity to work with the departed son of the soil, during the liberation struggle and subsequently in post-independence military service and political economy, I can affirm that the nation
has been robbed of one of its rarest and finest brains with an excellent grasp of the broader picture as well as attention to detail and implementation,” he said.

The Acting President said the late Foreign Minister would be remembered for working to ensure that Zimbabwe has fruitful ties with other nations.

“Due to his political, diplomatic and academic prowess, he was appointed as the Minister of Foreign Affairs and International Trade in the Second Republic in 2017. The late Dr Moyo was the fulcrum of the Second Republic’s engagement, re-engagement and economic diplomacy thrust to reinvigorate the country’s relations with the international community of nations.

“We take solace from the fact that the late was a distinguished Commander, politician and civil servant whose contribution to the well-being of Zimbabwe was beyond reproach,” he said.

Chiwenga also mourned the death last week, of the Minister of State for Manicaland Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Ellen Gwaradzimba and nationalist Moton Malianga, who were jointly buried at the National Heroes Acre on Thursday.

Acting President Chiwenga also sent a message of condolence to the Mumbengegwi family following the death of Emily Mumbengegwi, wife to Zanu PF Secretary for External Relations and former Foreign Affairs Minister Simbarashe Mumbengegwi.

“As we mourn her departure, we derive comfort from her model and selfless deeds which endeared her to the family and the nation,” he said.
