Zimbabweans urged to enjoy Christmas responsibly

Harare (New Ziana) – President Emmerson Mnangagwa has sent his warm wishes to Zimbabweans as they celebrate Christmas.
Zimbabweans are poised for a better Christmas this year as government initiatives have helped stabilise the economy.
Although the country is still under a Covid-19 lockdown, the measures in place are relaxed enabling people to travel to visit their relatives.
“A blessed Christmas to all Zimbabweans and those celebrating around the world. I hope the love of God shines on you and your families,” he tweeted.
Meanwhile, Vice President General Constantino Chiwenga reminded the nation to remain vigilant in the face of the pandemic.
“Be Safe on the roads, maintain #COVID19 and #Omicron regulations. Let us be safe and enter together into the new year,” he tweeted.
According to statistics by the Ministry of Health and Child Care, on December 24 Zimbabwe recorded 1 392 new infections and 16 deaths.
“Seven day rolling average for new cases goes down to 1 881 from 2 149,” it said.
“As of today (Friday), Zimbabwe has recorded 202 736 cases (including) 155 649 recoveries and 4 871 deaths.”
