Botswana’s Masisi contracts Covid-19

Harare (New Ziana) – Botswana President Mokgweetsi Masisi is in quarantine after testing positive for Covid-19 during a routine test, the government announced on Monday.
In a statement, acting permanent secretary government communications John-Thomas Dipowe said Masisi was asymptomatic.
“The Office of the President wishes to inform Members of the Public that His Excellency Dr Mokgweetsi Eric Keabetswe Masisi, President of Republic of Botswana is in mandatory self isolation at his official residence,” he said.
“This is necessitated by having tested positive for COVID-19 following routine testing for the virus. Members of the Public are assured that His Excellency the President does not have any symptoms and will continue to receive close medical monitoring by his medical doctors.”
Vice President Slumber Tsogwane is acting President until further notice.
