Man kills, hangs wife
Mutare (New Ziana) -In a horrendous case of domestic dispute incident, a Mutare man is alleged to have killed and hanged his wife on roof trusses in the presence of their two children.
Manicaland Police spokesperson Assistant Inspector Wiseman Chinyoka confirmed the arrest of Joel Mutasa of Hobhouse 1 who allegedly killed his wife Bryline Ngare (27) following a domestic dispute.
It is alleged that on February 26 at around 6am, Rumbidzai Marvelous Mushipe (31) was awakened by continuous screaming and shouting of her neighbor’s children – a girl (7) and boy (5) who wanted the door to be opened.
Mushipe helped the minors to open the door and was shocked to discover the body of Ngare hanging on roof trusses. Mutasa allegedly ran away after committing the offence.
Mushipe made a report to Chikanga Police Station. Mutare CID attended the scene. Preliminary investigations revealed that Ngare did not commit suicide but was actually murdered. The body was taken to Chitepo Provincial Hospital for post mortem.
The accused Mutasa was later arrested at an illegal mining site in Penhalonga. He allegedly confessed that he had killed his wife following a domestic dispute.
Asst. Insp. Chinyoka urged couples to consult third parties when solving domestic disputes.
“We encourage the general public to solve domestic issues amicably and to also consult third parties like community elders and church leaders,” he said.
