Gweru socialite commits suicide


Gweru (New Ziana) – A domestic dispute turned tragic when a popular socialite Shoenyann Caterlang Bones allegedly committed suicide by hanging at Plot 10 Travellers Rest, Gweru.

Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the incident which occurred on Monday at about 0600 hours.

It is alleged that the 39-year-old Shoenyann Bones had a misunderstanding with his wife and he later left home to an unknown destination.

“Bones then informed his grandmother Jessica Bones that he was going to commit suicide. At about 0600 hours, Bones’ body was discovered by his cousin hanging from a tree about 30 metres from their homestead,” he said.

A report was made to the police and the body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital awaiting post-mortem.

“We call upon members of the public to resolve disputes amicably and always seek a third party to assist them. We urge them to engage family, village and church elders who can help when misunderstandings arise in our society,” said Insp. Mahoko.
