Ordinary Level results out next week

Harare (New- Ziana) – The Zimbabwe Schools Examination Council (ZIMSEC) on Friday said the 2021 Ordinary Level results will be released next week.

In a statement, Zimsec said the results were delayed because of the disrupted school calendar which saw exams starting later than usual.

It said the 2021 Grade 7, Ordinary and Advanced level examination time table reflected the school calendar.

Because of the Covid-19 pandemic, schools opened for the first term on March 15 and closed on June 4 while the second term ran from August 30 to December 17.

This meant that examinations which traditionally start in October ending in November could only start in December.

“Students were only able to write examinations after the completion of the teaching of syllabuses at the three levels,” the examinations body said.

“Traditionally, that is before the disruptions caused by the Covid-19 global pandemic, the results of the Ordinary level and Advanced Level examinations are released two months after the date of writing the last examination paper, hence results were released between 1 and 15 February. ZIMSEC has observed this time period of two months after the last examination paper of 2021 was written on 31 January 2022. The December 2021/2022 Advanced level examination results were released on 5 April 2022 and the Ordinary Level examination results will be released next week,” it said.

Zimbabwe last had a normal school calendar in 2019.

Expectations are high that with a successful vaccination program and falling Covid 19 infection rates, the school calendar will not be disrupted this year.
