Bulawayo man dies following assault at accident scene
Harare (New Ziana -Bulawayo police have arrested a 33 year old man who, together with his accomplice who is on the run, fatally assaulted a fellow motorist following an accident along the Zvishavane-Mbalabala road in April this year.
The police said on Twitter that they are investigating a case in which Never Sibanda was assaulted and later died from the injuries by Anesu Chimanikire (33) and his accomplice who is at large.
“Police in Bulawayo are investigating a murder case in which Never Sibanda (33) died on 30/05/22 after he was assaulted with booted feet and fists all over the body by Anesu Chimanikire (33) and his accomplice who is still at large on 17/04/22 along Zvishavane-Mbalabala road,” the police said.
According to the police, the suspect was involved in an accident after he failed to stop to allow animals that were crossing the road to pass, and blamed it on the victim.
“The suspect and his accomplice accused the victim of causing a road traffic accident in which he hit a heifer with a Toyota Quantum which he was driving,” the police said.
It said the victim had stopped to allow the animals to pass and turned on the hazard lights, as a sign that there was danger was ahead.
“The victim, who was driving a Mazda Bongo vehicle, had stopped along the road and turned-on hazard lights to allow the cattle to cross but the suspect did not stop,” it said.
