Gweru murder case takes new twist
Gweru (New Ziana)– A Gweru woman who was arrested in connection with the death of her husband was released at the Gweru Magistrate Court and the case will proceed by way of summons.
Sofia Nherera (32) of Brookley Farm, Guinea Fowl area, did not appear in court after the prosecutors issued her with summons to enable police to finalize investigations in the death of her husband Joseph Hama (36).
Nherera was due to appear in court facing murder charges as defined in Section 47 of the Criminal Law Codification and Reform Act Chapter 9:23.
It is alleged that on August 7, Nherera phoned Hama requesting for relish which he however failed to bring home.
A misunderstanding arose between the couple, resulting in Hama assaulting his wife with open hands all over the body while threatening to kill her. When Nherera tried to escape from the room, Hama pulled her hair.
During the scuffle, it is alleged that Hama fell on a glass television stand and got injured, sustaining a deep cut on his right shoulder.
His wife escaped and sought refuge at a neighbour’s homestead.
Hama followed his wife and he was refrained by their neighbour, Wisdom Nyambira from further assaulting her.
Nyambira later found Hama dead inside his Honda Fit vehicle at around 10pm. The car was locked.
Police attended the scene and the body was taken to Gweru Provincial Hospital mortuary for post mortem.
Nherera was arrested the following day.
