ZIMBABWE’S sensational music star Winky D lit up Gwanda’s usually sleepy nightlife last Saturday after staging an exhilarating performance at Shisanyama Phoenix Garden.
The Gaffer, as he is popularly known in the music circles, put up a solid performance in a sold-out bash that left his fans craving for more.
The multi-award winning artist had fans pouring from various places like West Nicholson, Vumba, Ntepe and Sezhube.
First, to warm the stage were local talented artists Zhezhingtons, Real Klaaks, Tycon Dreams, Bry Eze, DJ T Money and DjWqlif.
When the Gaffer took to the stage, he mesmerised fans with several hit songs that include Ngirozi, Njema, and iJipita among others.
Supporting local artists felt honoured to share stage with Winky D.
“Performing alongside a world-class musician was a one in a million opportunity for me. I ventured into this industry way back but I am still learning new tactics from the experienced artists. Chances like this one gives us markets beyond our area, which is a positive move to upgrade my brand from one step to the other,” said local rising star Bry Eze.
Gwanda has of late been turned into a hive of entertainment, after hosting the likes of Black Diamond, DJ Tira, Oskido, and local acclaimed artists like Enzo Ishall, KillerT and Freeman HKD, among others.
Phoenix Gardens Manager, Jack Musindo, said the show revealed that Gwanda could host big names in the music industry. He said that another “big” musician would soon be gracing the Phoenix Gardens again.
“We are trying to build a name for Gwanda and currently we are organising another big gig for our clients, with a well-loved artist whom I cannot disclose for now,” said Musindo.
