MARONDERA- Mahusekwa District Hospital in Marondera West got a timely boost after the
constituency legislator Sphiwe Mukunyaidze donated an ambulance last week.
The development, hailed by villagers, will boost the aspect of health services delivery in the
constituency and beyond.
Nyadzisai Kanhokora of 21 told journalists that the gesture by Mukunyaidze will ensure that in cases
of emergency, patients will be timeously transported to the health institution.
“Our Honourable Member of Parliament has shown that she has the welfare of people from this
constituency at heart. Most of the times, it would take long people to be ferried to the district
hospital even when they would be in emergency. Some would be ferried by scotch-carts and we had
cases whereby some patients’ conditions deteriorated along the way.
“This will be a thing of the past as we now have an ambulance that, from what we have been told,
will be responding to cases and ferrying patients on time,” she said.
Another villager from the same area, Kainos Chishaka also said the ambulance will help to save many
lives.
He said: “Some people died at home because they could not be transported to health institutions.
Now that we have an ambulance at Mahusekwa Hospital, such cases will be a thing of the past.”
Cde Mukunyaidze said she was determined to make sure that real development takes place in the
constituency and for that to happen, the health system should be functioning well.
“I want to see this constituency developing and for people to do anything, they must be healthy. This
ambulance will be used to help save the people’s lives wherever and whenever necessary.
“Patients referred from other clinics should be able to be transported to Mahusekwa District
Hospital and the ambulance will serve the whole community,” she said.
