MARONDERA-A 33-year-old Mutoko man allegedly committed suicide after murdering his wife
whom he accused of infidelity.
Police in Mashonaland East has confirmed the incident. Acting provincial police spokesperson,
Assistant Inspector Misheck Denhere said, Obey Musango of Utongo village under Chief Mutoko in
Mutoko allegedly killed his wife, Chipo Mabaya on October 29 before hanging himself leaving their
six-year-old child orphaned.
Assistant Inspector Denhere revealed that on the fateful night, the couple had retired to bed when
Musango allegedly woke up and stabbed his wife once on the neck and twice at the back of her head
with an Okapi knife accusing her of infidelity before dumping the weapon in a bucket near the bed.
The wife later succumbed to the injuries sustained from the attack.
After realising that his wife had died, Musango allegedly hanged himself on one of the roof beams in
Their six-year-old daughter discovered her parents' lifeless bodies and informed her grandmother
who alerted other villagers.
A police report was then made at Mutoko police station who transported the bodies to Mutoko
District Hospital Mortuary for post mortems while police investigations continue.
Meanwhile, Assistant Inspector is making a clarion call to members of the public, particularly couples
experiencing domestic problems to desist from taking matters into their own hands, but to engage
third parties in ensuring that blood is not spilt.
