Mberengwa tout killed over passengers


MBERENGWA – A tout was allegedly assaulted to death by a rival for luring more passengers while
loading vehicles at Danga Business Centre in Mberengwa recently.
Honest Shoko (26) of New stands Mberengwa is alleged to have punched Paines Shoko (33) of
Village Sipho Mposi, Chief Bvute in Mberengwa by the ear leading to his death few days later.
It could not be established if the two were related.
The two were at Danga Business Centre touting for passengers when three commuters arrived and
approached Paines. This however, infuriated Honest who is said to have grabbed Paines by the collar
and punched and pushed him away. He collapsed at the scene.
Paines ran away after committing the offence while Paines was taken to Mberengwa District
hospital where he was admitted.
He however, died on November 8 on admission at United Bulawayo Hospitals where he had been
referred for further treatment.
Honest was arrested and is helping police with the investigations.
Midlands police spokesperson Inspector Emmanuel Mahoko confirmed the case and appealed to the
public to control their anger when differences arise to avoid unnecessary loss of lives.
