THE Zimbabwe Republic Police has appealed to members of the public, including couples, to
resolve their differences amicably in times of misunderstandings rather than resorting to
extremes.
The police’s advice comes as a 29-year-old Chiweshe man is reported to have gulped a rat
poison following a misunderstanding with his wife.
The man has since died.
According to Sergeant Major Samuel Chikasha, the Mashonaland Central Province police
spokesperson, the Chiweshe man, who was identified as Kudzai Muzangaza, had an
argument on 10 November with his wife, following which he took his life by drinking rat
poison.
The police spokesperson said that on 10 November, Muzangaza’s father, Lloyd Muzangaza,
received a phone call from an unknown contact telling him that his son was lying by the road
along the Gweshe – Howard Mission Hospital Road and that he was vomiting profusely.
The father then informed his younger son, Cosmas, about the tragic development. Cosmas
proceeded to collect Kudzai from the roadside and drove him to Howard Mission Hospital for
medical attention.
It was while at the hospital that Kudzai told him that he had taken Rattle, the rat poison,
because he had issues with his wife.
The next day during the visiting time, the elderly Muzangazas visited their son, but were told
on arrival that his health had deteriorated over night and that he had died.
Sergeant Major Chikasha appealed to members of the public to consider counselling as a key
component or step towards resolving misunderstandings, especially in managing relationship
problems.
He also added that people should learn to share problems so that they can get assistance on
time in matters that will be affecting their lives.
