500 women completes self empowerment course

MARONDERA – A three-day programme in Skills Training and Entrepreneurship Development,
courtesy of the Zanu PF Women’s League, saw hundreds of women graduating with certificates
The programme attended by 500 women covered soap, dish wash, petroleum jelly and toilet cleaner
manufacturing at a time the ruling party is pushing the mantra of leaving no-one and no place
behind when it comes to developmental and empowerment programmes.
The programme was meant to empower women and will help in the transformation of their lives
and those around them in communities.
The Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution Dr Aplonia Munzverengwi who is also the
ZANU PF Mashonaland East provincial Women’s League Chairperson officiated at the event at
Mahusekwa Business Centre in Marondera West constituency.
Dr Munzverengwi challenged those who benefitted from the programme to use the skills acquired in
a manner that results in notable productivity and transform their livelihoods.
“This programme is another way of empowering women through the acquisition of necessary skills
for them to start projects that help to sustain their livelihoods. I would like to urge all the recipients
of these certificates to productively use the skills that they acquired.
“You can start your projects as individuals or groups and may you try your level best to harness the
skills that you were taught to grow whatever projects you will be starting,” she said.
Some of the beneficiaries of the programme commended the ruling party for empowering them and
promised to take the skills back home and use them productively.
