MARONDERA- Members of various apostolic religious sects in Mashonaland East recently converged
at Rudhaka Stadium to officially launch the provincial chapter of MAPOSITORI4ED where they
pledged their support for President Emmerson Mnangagwa and Zanu PF party.
ED stands for Economic Development.
The association’s national spokesperson Obey Mapuranga said they had resolved to endorse
President Mnangagwa as the man they want to continue leading Zimbabwe.
He said: “As apostolic religious sects, we are fully behind President Mnangagwa and we want to see
him continue leading the country to prosperity. His approach in leading the country is all-inclusive.
We support the current Government because it considers us in all national developmental issues. In
the past, we were looked down upon but thanks to President Mnangagwa and the ruling
Government, our relevance is now being recognized.”
Chairman of the province’s chapter Emmanuel Chikoko echoed the same sentiments and assured
that they will play their part to ensure that Zanu PF wins back Marondera Central constituency which
was won by the opposition in 2018.
“We are prepared to play our part in nation building and as the country prepares to go for elections,
we will support President Mnangagwa. We will also vote for a Zanu PF candidate in the elections to
make sure that the party reclaims Marondera Central and other seats that were lost to the
opposition in previous elections.
“President Mnangagwa always say that ‘Nyika inovakwa nevene vayo’ and we want to be included in
all issues that have to do with empowerment and nation building,” he said.
He also pleaded for support for the apostolic sect members’ projects and decent places from where
they can worship.
“We have a lot of small-to-medium enterprises that we run and we want to be supported to boost
them as these businesses also contribute to economic development. We also want to be allocated
decent places of worship because most of sects play in open spaces. At times, bad weather
conditions disrupt their services,” Chikoko stated.
The Minister of State for Mashonaland East Provincial Affairs Dr Aplonia Munzverengwi said
members of the association should not hesitate to approach her office whenever they need
assistance and urged them to be heavily involved in the country’s economic activities.
She said: “We are humble and we put ourselves at the same level with you. The door to my office is
open and you are free to come with issues that you feel must be resolved at our level. In the same
vein, don’t be left out in programmes that are currently being rolled out like the Presidential Poultry
Programme and Pfumvudza.”
Politburo member Dr Sydney Sekeramayi thanked VAPOSITORI4ED for coming up with the idea of
supporting Presiden Mnangagwa and Zanu PF in next year’s harmonised elections.
