THREE Bindura men appeared before the Bindura Magistrates’ Court last Wednesday facing
charges of stealing USD300 and a laptop. They pleaded guilty.
Prosecutor Sheila Maribha, for the State said that on 25 October at around 10am Tanyaradzwa
Savanhu (26) of 7777 Magamba Street, Aerodrome, parked his Nissan Caravan outside Triple
Tee ECD centre in the same neighborhood and left for his errands.
He locked the doors of his car and left the driver’s window open and proceeded into the school
premises.
The three accused persons Takunda Mapani, Tinotenda Goredema and Misheck Sekai were
passing by and saw the complainant entering the school yard.
They then decided on stealing from his car.
They unlocked its doors and took Savanhu’s Dell laptop, the laptop bag and 3x32gig USB
flashes which were on the passenger seat and disappeared from the scene.
Savanhu discovered the offence on the same date and immediately made a police report.
On 6 November, while at Chipadze shopping centre, the three thieves again opened Tafadzwa
Ruwizhi’s car and took his car key while he was asleep in the same vehicle.
Before they left, the trio searched Ruwizhi’s pockets, counted themselves very lucky when they
found USD$300. Congratulating themselves on their good fortune, the trio made good their
escape.
However, on the 10 November, detectives received information that Sekai was seen carrying
Savanhu’s laptop. The detectives tracked down all the three and took them for questioning.

After being quizzed, the three led the detectives to the recovery of the laptop from Kind
Mondesi.
On the same day the trio also led the detectives to the recovery of the keys of the VW Polo from
Goredema’s house in Musvosvi Street, Chipadze.
