The Hwange West constituency leadership is appealing for assistance after a hail storm
destroyed a school, clinic and the road.
The Victoria Falls –Bulawayo road was severely damaged while houses at Ndlovu Secondary
School were totally destroyed leaving the teachers homeless.
“Our Ndlovu Secondary School has been totally destroyed and so was the teacher’s cottages.
Roofs in all classrooms, the staff room, all electrical gadgets, teachers’ cottages were blown
away. The school’s water tank was not sparred either by the violent storm and so was the one at
the clinic which is barely 100m from the school.
“Maternity Ward ceiling and roof sheets were ripped off exposing beds and other medicals to the
vagaries of the rain,” said Councillor Givemore Moyo from Kachechete Ward 3.
“As we speak learners were sent home on Tuesday as the School is no longer habitable and
lessons can only resume when this (repairs) has been attended to. Literally there is no school and
clinic at Ndlovu Centre under Chief Mvuthu,” he said.
Robson Salimu the personal assistant of Member of Parliament Godfrey Dube said the
constituency is in a very difficult situation.
“Fellow citizens, we are currently faced with difficulties as a constituency, (where) the recent
hail storms experienced across the area has left so much damage on our roads and infrastructure
as well as on education and health facilities,” Salimu said.
Salimu said those with donations can contact Kachechete Ward councillor Given Moyo (00263
0772462892 or Ndlovu Secondary School head on 0715528519.
