Plea for dignified Govt offices

Mashonaland Central Minister of State for Provincial Affairs and Devolution, Senator
Monica Mavhunga, has recommended the Public Service Commission to re-establish its
provincial Public Service Training Academy currently housing Bindura University of Science
Dr Mavhunga made the remarks in Bindura recently, where she was addressing the Public
Service Commission Chairperson, Dr Vincent Hungwe, and senior staff members from his
office, during a meeting with the province’s ministerial and government department heads.
She said there was need for the government human resource manpower to continuously
undergo career progression courses.
The Public Service Commission used to capacitate its workforce at the centre, which now
houses Bindura University’s main campus and administration offices.
Government ministries and department officials having in-house trainings are now booking
space in hotels and lodges which is expensive.
The minister also appealed for the construction of more government offices in Bindura as
well as the other seven districts that make up the province.
“Office space remains a big challenge for ministries and government departments in the
province, to the extent that some departments such as the Roads Department work from
Mashonaland Central Province has established space for these government buildings in Mbire
and Bindura.
