TWO men hired a commercial sex worker, had their fun and then killed her after taking back
the US$20 they had paid her for her services.
They are now on the run and police have launched a manhunt for them.
Shocked villagers cannot understand why it was necessary for the two men to assault the 24-
year-old woman from Bikita, Masvingo, so badly after demanding back their US$20 from
her.
Caroline Gava was beaten up using sticks, open hands, and then strangled after she had
refused to give the two men a refund for the services she had already rendered.
Masvingo police spokesperson, Inspector Kudakwashe Dhewa, confirmed the incident and
said the two men were on the run.
“On 17 November around 8pm Gava left her homestead in the company of a male friend
identified as Muchara going to Chiremwaremwa Business Centre. Around 1230am on 18
November on her way back to her homestead, she met two men, who proposed love to her at
a cost of US$20.
“After the act, the two men demanded the money they had paid for the services and a
misunderstanding ensued. The two men started beating her up with sticks, open hands, and
strangling her. They took the money and disappeared.”
Gava went home and narrated her ordeal to her cousin, Noster Maningi. Around 6am she
started feeling dizzy and went to sleep. She became unconscious and died around 4pm. The
matter was reported to Mashoko Police Station.
